Synthesis and Anti-inflammatory Activity of Indole Derivatives

The present investigation is concerned with synthesis of new substituted indole derivatives 1-39 with the objective of discovering novel and potent anti-inflammatory agent. The structure of all the synthesized compounds were elucidated by spectral (IR, HNMR and mass) and elemental (C, H, N) analysis. The obtained compounds were screened for their anti-inflammatory as well as analgesic activities at the dose of 50 mg/kg p.o. The compound 2-(pChlorophenyl)-1-[4'-[2"-(p-chlorophenyl)-4"-oxo-thiazolidin-3"-yl]-5'-mercapto-[1',2',4']-triazol-3'-yl-methyl]-3-(4"',6"'bromo-2"'-carboxyphenyl iminomethyl]-5-methoxy-indole 35 showed better anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities at the three graded dose of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg p.o.
